Caring For Your Type Of Skin

Normal , OIly , Combination Skin

Caring for your type of skin
Normal skin
If you have normal skin, its most obvious characteristic will be the absence of problems! You'll have no dry, rough or flaky patches and few, if any, lines. Your skin won't be prone to spots or blemishes, nor will it have an oily shine. Its colour will be good, with a clear, bright tone; and its  texture even, with regular pores. It will feel firm, smooth and supple.
Though normal skin is trouble-free, only the right kind of care will keep it that way -so don't take your good fortune too much for granted! Neglect can result in a change to dry or oily skin; and all skins need protection against the drying effects of our environment, both indoors and out.Your beauty routine

Cleanse thoroughly twice a day - morning and night - and follow with a toner. Once a week, deep-cleanse your skin with a face mask. Moisturise over bare skin or under make-up every day and night. Whenever your skin is subjected to more drying conditions than usual, give it extra care with a richer cream by night.

Oily disturbed skin
With all the characteristics of oily skin plus blackheads, spots and pimples, disturbed skin is 'under attack'! It's also sore, irritated, itchy and uncomfortable.
Skin in this state needs scrupulous care to reduce the risk of infection, as well as thorough cleansing and the control of surface oil.

Cleanse thoroughly three times a day -morning, noon and night - and follow with an astringent. Before cleansing at night, soften the skin with steam to loosen blackheads and draw impurities to the surface more rapidly. Apply a medicated treatment cream to any spots or pimples after cleansing. During the day, if no foundation is worn, astringent can be used between cleansings to remove surface oil.
Three or four times a week, use a face mask to deep-cleanse the skin and help unplug blocked pores.
In very drying conditions only, apply a light moisturiser over bare skin or under make-up.

Combination skin
This is the most common skin type for those between the ages of 25 and 40, so although it is not classified as 'normal' skin, it is, in fact, very usual.
If you have combination skin, then you've really got two types of skin to contend with! The centre panel - across the forehead and down the nose and chin - is oily, with a persistent shine and a tendency to spots. On your cheeks, the skin is drier, with flaky patches, and it may also be sensitive.
Combination skin requires combination care, so that each area gets the treatment it needs to maintain the right oil/moisture balance.

dry skins
Cleanse thoroughly twice a day - morning and night. Follow with an astringent on the centre panel only, and a skin freshener on the cheeks where the skin is drier. Once a week, deeply cleanse your skin with a combination of two face masks - one for oily skin, applied to the centre panel only, and one for dry skin on remaining areas. If necessary, the centre panel only can be given a second such treatment later in the week.
Use a moisturiser over bare skin or under make-up by day and at night, plus - at night -a richer cream on dry areas.

Dry skin
If you have dry skin, then flakiness, fine lines and fragility will all be familiar to you. You won't be troubled much, if ever, by spots; but soap-and-water washing, cold, wind and central heating will all present problems as they'll rob your skin of what little moisture it has. Your skin may feel rough and itchy and it's quite likely to be sensitive, too.
Dry skin needs to be nurtured - it lacks moisture so this must be supplemented; and it's fine and fragile, so it must be handled with care.

Cleanse twice a day - morning and night -with a creamy cleanser. Follow with a skin freshener. Once a week, deeply cleanse your skin with a moisturising face mask. Use a moisturiser every day, over bare skin or under make-up; and a richer moisturising cream at night.
